It has become increasingly difficult to attend your important events and avoid alcohol (and the hangover).
Alcohol is everywhere, from sporting events to weddings, funerals, knock-off drinks and baby showers; there's no escaping it.
Then there is the peer pressure.
Here's 5 ways you can drink less when society wants you to drink more.
1. Use your free time to do something that you love doing that will distract you from alcohol consumption and delay your first drink.
Try nature walks, water sports, meditation, going to the gym, reading a book, journaling, visiting loved ones, creating a masterpiece, cooking, learning about nutrition, enrol in a course or any other alcohol-free activities.
2. Instead of going to every event you are invited to whether you are interested or not, just say no if you are not excited about the event.
3. Set boundaries or limits instead of consuming alcohol daily, try consuming it on weekends only.
Instead of buying a whole bottle of wine buy a piccolo or instead of buying a six pack, buy a long neck and avoid going back to the bottle shop.
4. When out and about order a drink that looks like alcohol when its your round. For example, ask for a cranberry juice in a rocks glass so it looks like you're drinking Vodka cranberry or a rocks glass with cola in to resemble whiskey. You could even ask the bartender to fill your empty beer bottle with water or buy the alcohol-free version.
5. Determine the reason for consuming alcohol and work on that. Stress, trauma and wanting to feel a sense of belonging are often reasons for drink increased amounts of alcohol.
So, Love your body more by reducing alcohol consumption and increase fruit, veg, water, and exercise.
In return you will notice significant health benefits including increased energy, improved mental health and improved sleep.
If you need help with sleep ... stay tuned!
